Mission of the Arson & Explosion Investigation Unit

The Arson & Explosion Investigation Unit is primarily responsible for assisting in the investigation of all arson fires, suspicious fires, explosions and the manufacturing of explosives.  The investigation is often coordinated with the Gloucester County Fire Marshal's Office.

The Arson & Explosion Unit is comprised of a Detective and an Assistant Prosecutor. The Prosecutor's Office Insurance Fraud Unit will assist when a suspicion of insurance fraud is indicated.

The purpose of the Arson & Explosion Unit is to work with the local, county, state and federal law enforcement and fire agencies in order to successfully investigate and prosecute cases presented by the Arson & Explosion Unit.
