Vote By Mail

Can’t Get to the Polls? Too Busy to Vote? In New Jersey, any voter can vote by mail for any reason or no reason at all using a Vote-by-Mail Ballot.  If you are a qualified and registered voter, you may apply for a Vote-by-Mail Ballot by completing a Vote-by-Mail application and mailing to the address below. The deadline for such requests by mail is 7 days before any and all elections (Primary, General, School, etc). Voters may also apply in person at the County Clerk’s Office up until 3:00 p.m. on the day before the election. The Gloucester County Clerk’s Election Division is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays).

The County Clerk cannot accept faxed copies of a Vote By Mail Application since an original signature is required.

Military Voting

Active-duty members of the Armed Forces, Merchant Marine, Public Health Service, NOAA, and their family members may register to vote and apply for a Vote By Mail ballot by using the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA).
New Jersey law permits the emailing of Vote By Mail ballots to Uniformed Service Members and their families. The Federal Post Card Application is available online at the FVAP web site: http://www.fvap.gov/

Current Election Information


The County Clerk’s office commences the mailing of Vote-by-Mail Ballots 45 days before the election. Once mailing has begun, Vote-by-Mail lists are updated daily and may be viewed / downloaded by clicking here.

Up-to-date information may be accessed using any device that has internet access such as smart phones, iPads, laptops, or desk top computers.

Reports are posted in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:63-10

Election Information

As a service to the public, the County Clerk’s Office maintains voter registration lists for 25 cents per district. By law these lists must be used for election purposes only. Campaign Expenditure Reports are on file also.

School Board Nominating Petitions

School Board Petition

Nomination Petition Filing Deadline for School & Fire District Election Candidates for General Election (last Monday in July) N.J.S.A. 19:60-7

Pursuant to P.L. 2018, c.20, two or more candidates for school board may circulate petitions jointly and bracket together on the ballot.

Petitions must be filled out and notarized before filing with the County Clerk. The County Clerk does not notarize petitions.

It is highly recommended that petitions be filed in-person; however, if you choose to mail the petition, it must be received prior to the deadline. Postmarks are not acceptable.

• With the enactment of P.L. 2020, c.55, school board candidates may submit their petitions electronically.

If filing electronically, candidates need to complete all of the required documents. All of the statutory requirements remain the same.

Fire District Election Information

The following municipalities have Boards of Fire District Commissioners whose elections are held each February:

Washington Twp

To run as a candidate for the Board of Fire Commissioners in districts whose elections are held in February, please file petitions with the respective Secretary of the Board of Fire District Commissioners.

The following municipalities have Boards of Fire District Commissioners that opted to move their elections to the November General Election:

To run as a candidate for the Board of Fire Commissioners in the November General Election:

Petitions must be filed with the County Clerk’s Office, Election Division, 550 Grove Rd., West Deptford, NJ 08066, before 4:00 p.m. on or before the last Monday of July proceeding the November General Election.

Petitions must be completed and notarized before filing with the County Clerk. The County Clerk does not notarize petitions.
