Marking graves for Memorial Day
May 18, 2018  (Monroe Twp., NJ) – Each year Gloucester County Freeholders, staff from the Gloucester County Office of Veterans Affairs, and volunteers mark the beginning of Memorial Day by placing a small US Flag at each gravesite at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  This year Cub Scout Pack 1721 of Woodbury will also help marking the gravesites.

Gloucester County ranked second in the state in 2017 tourism industry sales
May 17, 2018  (Woodbury, NJ) The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders are excited to announce that as of 2017, the economic impact of tourism report ranked Gloucester County second in the state in tourism industry sales and third in the state in 2016.  The county also had the highest increase in direct tourism employment at 7.6%, or 5,346 jobs in 2017; a large jump from the previous 4,970 jobs in 2016.

Habitat for Humanity hosts Women's Build Event
May 17, 2018  (Woodbury, NJ)  - Freeholder Heather Simmons, liaison to the Department of Economic Development and Public Works, helped welcome the volunteers at the Gloucester County Habitat Women's Build on Tuesday, May 8.

Gloucester County participating in National Prevention Week
May 16, 2018  (Woodbury, NJ) The week of May 14 is National Prevention Week in Gloucester County. National Prevention Week is an annual observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, substance abuse and mental health.  It is held each year during the third week of May, near the start of summer, an important time for schools, communities, and prevention professionals to re-focus on prevention.

National Nurses Week recognized in Gloucester County
May 16, 2018  (Pitman, NJ) – The nurses from the Gloucester County Health Department were presented with a proclamation from Freeholder Jim Jefferson and the Gloucester County Freeholder Board on May 10, 2018 in recognition of National Nurses Week (May 6 through May 12).

Monument dedicated to original Firehouse in Glassboro
May 14, 2018  (Glassboro, NJ) -  Glassboro officials, the Glassboro Historical Society and Glassboro Fire Department dedicated a monument recognizing the location of the original firehouse in downtown Glassboro on May 4, 2018. This dedication took place on International Firefighters' Day and celebrates not only the town’s past, but its future as well.
