Text, email or voice emergency notification system available to those who live and work in Gloucester County

(Clayton, NJ) -- Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Joe Chila announced that notifications are available via Everbridge Notifications for those who live and work in Gloucester County. 

Freeholder Director Damminger said, "The notification system people to receive emergency notifications and elected notifications such as weather events, road closures, and town events.  The information can be received on multiple platforms including text alerts, emails, and voice delivered to your personal phones, work phones and home phones.  You decide where you want the message to go."

Freeholder Deputy Director Chila said, "We have a commitment to ensure public safety, community awareness and emergency response. To uphold this, when critical information and public service announcements are available, we need to reach our residents as quickly and reliably as possible. The Everbridge emergency notification system allows Gloucester County to disseminate this information across all types of devices, ensuring residents have access to real-time public information when they need it the most."  Chila is also the liaison to the Department of the Office of Emergency Management.  

To sign up go to http://gloucesteralert.com/ and then go to Sign Up (even if you were in the old system sign up as a new user as the old system had limited information).  The new system now has more ways to reach users and more subscriptions that one can sign up.  The weather feature is now elective and has quiet periods that can be customized. 

By signing up as a new user there will be multiple ways to reach a person during an emergency.

Additionally, sign up for elective and emergency alerts from your cell phone via text.  Text GC Alerts to 888777 to sign up for Emergency Alerts throughout Gloucester County and/or text GC Events to 888777 to sign up for events that are happening throughout Gloucester County.
