Free training available for new jobs in the Advanced Manufacturing field

(Sewell, NJ) -- Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Heather Simmons announced today that Lamatek Inc. is partnering with Rowan College at Gloucester County and the Gloucester County Workforce Development Board to hire and train local residents for new jobs in the Advanced Manufacturing field.   

Freeholder Director Damminger said, "Eligible residents who complete the free four-week training program will be considered for positions that begin at $15 an hour."  

Freeholder Heather Simmons said, “The Advanced Manufacturing field is growing there are many opportunities for our residents.  Our goal is to provide access and opportunity to good jobs.  After Lamatek completed their expansion last year they committed to working with the Workforce Development Board to hire county residents and we are happy to partner with them in this effort.” 

Lamatek is located in West Deptford and specializes in slit-to-width tapes, custom gaskets, adhesive foam and sponge products, and floor matting. 

LAMATEK is a founding member and "Chapter Champion" of the New Jersey branch of Women in Manufacturing (WIM), a national association dedicated to supporting and promoting women in the manufacturing industry and has just expanded their operation to 92,000 sq. ft. by signing a 10-year lease on adjoining industrial space to accommodate new opportunities and growth. 

Residents who are over 18, have been unemployed or underemployed for over six months, and have a high school diploma are eligible for this training.   

Attendance to the information session is required to be admitted to the training program.
