Washington Twp. students recognized for Annual Consumer bowl win

(Woodbury, NJ) -- Freeholder Lyman Barnes, liaison to the Department of Consumer Protection, presented proclamations to the winners of this year's annual Consumer Bowl on Wednesday, June 6 at the Freeholder meeting.

During the consumer bowl, students from Gateway, Glassboro, Washington Township and West Deptford and Woodbury High Schools were given the opportunity to show off their knowledge of Consumer information and Rights in the marketplace in a competitive game show format.

Freeholder Barnes said, "The consumer bowl is a great way for students who are interested in consumer protection to show off what they know and even have the chance to learn more. It’s a great way to get these students interested in what exactly consumer protection is and keep them on a path into this field."

The event, hosted by the Gloucester County Office of Consumer Protection tested the students’ knowledge of the Consumer Fraud Act and Weights and Measures statutes that they have been studying in preparation for the event.

Each member of the winning Washington Township High School was awarded a $25.00 gift card and was recognized for his achievement by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
