Free series on space exploration in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing

(Mullica Hill, NJ) – Freeholder Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Lyman Barnes, liaison to the Gloucester County Library System, announced that the Mullica Hill Branch of the Gloucester County Library System will offer a free series of three programs on space exploration, broadcast live from NASA.

These talks are part of NASA's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Each speaker is a NASA expert in the topic.

The Apollo lunar flights may have ended in 1972, but the Moon has remained of great interest to NASA and scientists around the world. Come to the Gloucester County Library in Mullica Hill to take a look back at the historic program, while NASA prepares to send humans back to the Moon, this time to stay.

The programs are:

Explore Humans in Space – Thursday, June 13 at 2pm
What will it be like for humans to leave Earth for another world? Explore the challenges associated with human space flight.

Explore Rockets and Spacecraft – Thursday, June 27 at 2pm
Travel back in time as we look at the Saturn V rocket that allowed astronauts to place their footprints on the Moon. Then take a look at NASA’s next big rocket, the Space Launch System, the Orion spacecraft, and the mobile command module Gateway, which will be our backbone for deep space exploration.

Explore Moon to Mars – Thursday, July 11 at 2pm.
NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine says, "This time, when we go to the Moon we will stay. And then we will use what we learn on the Moon to take the next giant leap – sending astronauts to Mars." Learn about the new Space Launch System, with almost a million more pounds of thrust than the Saturn V rocket, and other developing technology that will make the trip to Mars possible.

The Mullica Hill Branch of the Gloucester County Library is located at Route 45 & Wolfert Station Road. The programs are free. Advance registration is requested.  To register online, use the events calendar at www.gcls.org.  For more information call 856-223-6042.
