Gloucester County Celebrates Men’s Health Month on Wednesday at YMCA in Woodbury

(Sewell)- Gloucester County Health Department will be collaborating with the Gloucester County YMCA, Jefferson Health and NJ CEED to celebrate Men's Health Month on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Gloucester County YMCA, 235 East Red Bank Ave, Woodbury NJ 08096. 

Information on nutrition and fitness will be provided to raise awareness about the amount of added sugar in common drinks and learn how to make better drink and food choices.

The following screenings will be provided; blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and Dermascan (skin) screenings.   

NJ CEED (Cancer Education Early Detection) will also be in attendance, NJCEED provides free education and screenings for colon and prostate cancer, please attend this event and see if you qualify. Early detection can save your life.   

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, "The best way to show your family you care this Father’s Day is by putting your health first. Be a healthy example to your family and get screened." 

Freeholder Jim Jefferson, Liaison to the Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services, said, “Many health problems are preventable and we are encouraging men to take care of themselves so they can take care of their families.  The goal of this celebration of men is to educate men, boys, and their families about disease prevention, timely screenings, and healthy lifestyles.” 

The Gloucester County YMCA will be free for the day to all nonmembers. Please join us for a fun interactive morning of free fitness classes offered by the Gloucester County YMCA and the opportunity to win monthly memberships.
