Animals are excited to meet their forever families at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter Open House

(Clayton, NJ)—The Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) is always available to help Gloucester County families find new furry friends, and this year’s Open House will have their adoption trailer for easy adopting.
The Gloucester County Animal Shelter’s Annual Open House will be held on Saturday, October 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the mobile adoption trailer, the event will also have refreshments, vendors, music, K-9 demonstrations and a balloon artist.
“Our Open House is a great event for all animal lovers,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “You can come by to meet the staff, shop from local pet vendors and possibly take home a new member of your family.”
In addition to the Open House, GCAS is still open to help you find your new pet.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, GCAS is still limiting access to the public. The shelter will now be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while adoption hours are by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Any Gloucester County resident interested in adopting from GCAS can call (856) 881-2828 ext. 1 for adoptions. You can also fill out an adoption application online at and a staff member will contact you with an appointment time.
“The staff is here to help connect you with an animal that makes sense for your family,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco, liaison to the shelter. “We will patiently walk you through the adoption process because we believe it’s important to feel informed and supported while making such a big decision.”
“I adopted through the Gloucester County Animal Shelter and the process was extremely easy and affordable thanks to the staff,” said Freeholder Lyman Barnes. “My dog is the perfect addition to my family and my hope is everyone is able to find their perfect match at our shelter.”
The shelter is still discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals 6 years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.
The shelter currently has 36 animals available for adoption including 32 cats and 4 dogs.
If you’re interested in adopting from GCAS, please fill out an application online and a staff member will be in contact with you.
