Gloucester County Animal Shelter has updated their adoption hours

(Clayton, NJ)—Adoption hours have been updated at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter to Tuesday through Thursday noon to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday noon to 4 p.m.

Adoption hours are by appointment only. GCAS is still limiting access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Any individual interested in adopting from GCAS can call (856) 881-2828 ext. 1 for adoptions. You can also fill out an adoption application online at and a staff member will contact you with an appointment time.

“Our shelter staff is helpful and knowledgeable and will assist in getting you matched with the right animal for your home,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger.

The shelter is still discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals 6 years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived. Birds are available for a donation to the shelter.

The shelter currently has 19 animals available for adoption including 17 cats, 1 dog and 1 rabbit.

Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco said, “We get amazing feedback from adoptees who find their pets at the shelter. We want each of our visitors to leave confident in their choice."

A pair of kittens adopted in April are adjusting well to their new home. Their owners said, “They love the kids, our cat and dog. Everyone is getting along great, and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks again!"
