Our course is intended for anyone with a deep desire to provide outstanding pre-hospital medical care and safe and effective emergency response to the public.

Emergency Medical Technician

The course and internship equate to over 500 hours of education followed by a 144 hour residency ride-a-long program. This model of EMS Education is exclusive to the Gloucester County EMS EMT Training Academy. Academy graduates will possess the clinical, affective, and psychomotor skills and knowledge to begin the application process at Gloucester County EMS.

Student Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • At least 18 years old at the time of application submission
  • Possess a valid NJ Driver’s License
  • Successfully complete the pre-admission testing
  • Successfully pass an American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider course (provided by the Gloucester County EMS)
  • Ability to pass a background check & drug screening
  • Submit to PPD testing & N95 fit testing
  • Provide MMR, influenza, COVID-19 & hepatitis vaccination records
  • Attend every class session
  • Attend every clinical assignment
  • Complete all course work, assignments, exams, skills assessments, projects, etc

Course Schedule

  • Classroom sessions meet three days per week, 8am-4pm
  • Clinical assignment requirements are 12 hours per week
  • Clinical assignments include an Emergency Department Observation, Advance Life Support Observation and Internship at Gloucester County EMS
  • Residency program consists of ride-a-long time at Gloucester County EMS
