(Clayton, NJ)—The Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) is seeking donations to prepare for the 2021 kitten season.

Kitten season takes place during warmer months, typically March through October.

“The Animal Shelter sees an influx of kittens at the shelter during mid-April which means it’s time to prepare for new arrivals,” said Director Robert M. Damminger.

The shelter is currently seeking bottles and miracle nipples for the kittens that require bottle feeding before adoption. A full list of donations needed can be found here:https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/37VOWSVFVJRDS/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2?_encoding=UTF8&type=wishlist&fbclid=IwAR3oAVEy38_5iSbqhn9KbgeoYSq6Rd9ZE0s_I5Jh-Mv2DijeG3-v7XXQr60

“These donations make the kittens’ stay much more comfortable at the shelter. Our staff is able to provide great care when we have the supplies needed to do so,” said Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco.

Adoption hours have been updated at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter to Tuesday through Thursday noon to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday noon to 4 p.m.

Adoption hours are by appointment only. GCAS is still limiting access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any Gloucester County resident interested in adopting from GCAS can call (856) 881-2828 ext. 1 for adoptions. You can also fill out an adoption application online at www.gloucestercountynj.gov and a staff member will contact you with an appointment time.

“Our animals are ready to meet a family that will take them home forever,” said Director Damminger. “Visit the Gloucester County Animal Shelter’s Facebook page to see all the animals boarding at the shelter.”

The shelter is still discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals 6 years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.

Any pet owner struggling to feed their pets due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can visit the Pet Food Pantry to pick up pet food for their dogs and cats. If any Gloucester County resident is in need of food please call the shelter to confirm availability and schedule a time for pickup at (856) 881-2828 ext. 3.

“We created this pantry to keep your pets in your homes. We know the pandemic has caused financial stress for many residents, so please don’t hesitate to pick up food for your pet at the shelter if you’re in need,” said Deputy Director DiMarco.

For more information from the shelter, please visit www.gloucestercountynj.gov or visit the shelter’s Facebook page.
