The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners announced that the Gloucester County Animal Shelter will host a Kitten Shower on May 1, 2021 from noon to 3 p.m. to celebrate the upcoming arrival of new kittens as June is kitten season.
The goal of the program is for people to donate supplies and to help the animal shelter recruit new foster families as well.
Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger said, “Baby showers have always been a great way for new families to get what they need to help support their new baby. With the upcoming arrival of new kittens, the Gloucester County Animal Shelter has decided to celebrate kitten season by hosting a shower.”
“In order to help supply these new kittens with everything they need, this Kitten Shower will be modeled after a baby shower, where in place of the usual gifts, the GCAS is looking for donations of things the kittens will need,” said Director Damminger.
Commissioner Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco, Liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter said, “We host this event every year to encourage individuals to support our Foster Program and prepare for the upcoming kitten arrivals. It is not only a fun way to encourage residents to donate to the shelter and help support them, but also to find new potential foster families for these kittens and other animals in the shelter.”
There will be refreshments, giveaways, information on fostering and more at the Kitten Shower.
The GCAS is looking for donations of the following:
Cat toys
Cat beds
Fleece blankets
Johnson’s Baby Shampoo
Kitten bottle kits
Cat nail clippers
KMR kitten formula
Wet and dry KITTEN food (Royal Canin brand preferred)
Bowls: ceramic or stainless steel
Kitchen scales
Snuggle safe warmers
The Kitten Shower will take place on May 1 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter at 1200 N Delsea Drive in Clayton.
