(Sewell, NJ)—Gloucester County Board of Commissioners in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation will host “Picklenic,” a special event for pickleball players.
“Pickleball is taking over as the fasting growing sport in America. Atkinson Park is home to six gorgeous pickleball courts and they have been put to great use since we unveiled them,” said Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger.
The Picklenic will be held of Saturday, May 8 at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at James G. Atkinson Park. Tennis courts will be converted into additional pickleball courts. There will be 14 courts available and attendees are encouraged to sign up on the meet-up app.

“This event is a way for us to continue to foster the great community that has come from opening Pickleball courts at Atkinson Park,” said Commissioner Jim Lavender. “We encourage individuals interested in learning to play pickleball to stop by and watch the games. Everyone is very helpful and willing to teach new players.”
Picklenic will be full of fun and feature prizes, giveaways, trophies for winners and ice cream for all.

Mystery Mixed Troubles Tourney - Names will be pulled out of a hat to determine mixed partners.
All attendees are asked to maintain social distancing and follow mask mandates while waiting for their turn to play.
