Gloucester County Update

Gloucester County continues to assess damage and respond to requests from residents and municipalities.
Multiple roads and power outages are being reported across Mantua Township, Harrison Twp., Deptford, Wenonah, and Woodbury Heights. Wenonah residents should be aware of wires down and debris.
School closures are in effect in these most affected towns.
We are asking ALL residents to stay in their houses unless emergency evacuation is needed. Multiple power lines are down and could cause injury. Please call 9-1-1 if you are in an emergency.
There are no additional injuries to report.
Commissioner Robert M. Damminger declared a State of Emergency through September 3. The Gloucester County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues to work directly with most affected municipalities to assess damage, provide resources and assist residents.
With the advocation of Senate President Steve Sweeney, Gloucester County will have the federal funding that it needs to recover quickly and effectively.
Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management and Public Works has established a staging area at Rowan College of South Jersey to clear trees and debris in conjunction with the electric companies. The priority remains to make the road ways safe to travel.
Individuals seeking emergency temporary housing can call (856) 307-4816 for assistance.
Gloucester County Institute of Technology is set up as a Reception Center for individuals to charge cell phones, seek heat relief etc. Water and necessities are being provided by Walmart, CVS, American Water Co., CVS.
The Reception Center is open today, September 2, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mental Health Resources are onsite at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Reception Center.
Gloucester County is NOT in need of donations at this time.
At this time, the following road closures are being reported:
- Gateway High School to Mail Ave (affecting parts of tanyard rd.)
- Heritage Road between Jackson Road and Main St.
· Breakneck between Barnesboro Rd and Jackson Rd
· Clems Run between 322 and Ellis Mill Rd
· Jefferson Road between Jackson Rd and Breakneck Rd
Please note: This list is not the total road closure list as there are many municipal road closures. Gloucester County is still assessing road closures and will share updates as they become available.

Gloucester County is currently assessing all damage caused by the tornado on September 1, 2021.
Multiple roads are closed and power outages are being reported across Mantua Township, Harrison Twp., Deptford, Wenonah, and Woodbury Heights.
School closures are in effect in these most affected towns.
We are asking ALL residents to stay in their houses unless emergency evacuation is needed. Multiple power lines are down and could cause injury.
Multiple houses are severely damaged. At this time, we have no fatalities to report, two reported injuries - both individuals are in stable condition at Inspira Mullica Hill.
Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger has approved the activation of Gloucester County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and is working directly with most affected municipalities to assess damage, provide resources and assist residents.
Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management and Public Works are working to set staging areas to clear trees and debris in conjunction with the electric companies with the priority to make the road ways safe to travel.

The County is reporting the following road closures:
- Woodbury Glassboro Road from Mantua Avenue to Evergreen Circle is closed - County Crews with Deptford FD are clearing
- Breakneck Road closed from Jackson to Deer Run - Poles & Trees Down
- Heritage Road Closed from Main Street to Jackson - Poles & Trees
- Main Street closed from Pontes Point to Center Street - Poles & Trees
- Commissioners Pike CR 581 closed just north of CR 618 large Tree & Wires
- Mantua Boulevard in the vicinity of Delaware Valley Florist including multiple poles and trees
- Tanyard Road to Bankbridge Road
- Route 322 from Rt 45 to Cedar to Clearview High School
- High Point Road from Route 130 to Pedricktown Road

The County has been in contact with State Offices for resources as well as Senate President Steve Sweeney who has been advocating for additional resources and the declaration of emergency of our area.
