Environmental Health

The Environmental Health division provides technical assistance and enforces public health and environmental laws to ensure the protection of the environment and the health and safety of our residents.

We conduct the following public health services on behalf of the 24 municipal local boards of health as mandated by New Jersey’s Public Health Practice Standards of Performance.

The public health protection services we conduct include retail food establishment inspections, youth camp safety inspections, public recreational bathing inspections, body art procedures inspections, tanning facility inspections, animal bite investigations, public health complaint investigations, reportable food-borne illness investigations and sanitary operation of kennels, pet shops, shelter inspections.

We also conduct activities under the County Environmental Health Act (CEHA) on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).

These programs include air pollution control, safe drinking water, water pollution control, solid waste control, noise control and pesticide compliance.
